WeAre8 Review
What I originally wrote:
As some of you may be aware there is a new emerging social media app called WeAre8 that operates in a very unusual way as it doesn’t have much content and it pays you small amounts of money to watch ads. I downloaded this app to give it a go and see if it is a real or a con and needless to say this experiment has taken me 5 weeks and here’s my findings:
I downloaded the app near the end of October. Then, I waited for it to show me the pop-up to say that I can watch ads so I therefore watched them all and then the promised money went into a pending pot that I could see on my account. However, to withdraw you need a minimum of £1 so I continued to watch ads so that after 30 days once the money moves from pending into the available I’d have enough. So, a week ago the opportunity presented itself and I had the opportunity to withdraw and it said it could take 1-3 business days which is fair enough so I did even more waiting as 3 days isn’t bad considering the amount of waiting I had already done. Anyway, here I am a week later with no money in my PayPal account therefore, I have come to the conclusion that either they have issues or the whole thing is a scam which is annoying as I have nearly £6 pending but at the end of the day at least I’m not doing this later down the line. I have given the app a bad review on the Google Play Store so we will see if I get a comment from any of the team or not.
What’s the bottom line? I wouldn’t recommend this app as the main enticing feature seems like a scam and there is hardly any content on their either. Don’t get me wrong I love the idea of the app as it’s much better than other socials in that respect on the other hand, if they can’t deliver on what they promised then why should people use the app.
What happened post-review:
After complaining on the play store I don’t know if anyone at WeAre8 saw my review or not but the morning after publishing the review, I woke up to an email from PayPal saying that I had received a payment from WeAre8 and I was genuinely shocked that it had worked as I had waited well over a week when it said up to 3 business days. Therefore, I checked my PayPal and the money was there so I know that it is legit however, I would say this app is good but I mean you are looking at a timescale of over 5 weeks after watching the ad to actually receiving the money.
About a day later, I got a reply from someone from the WeAre8 team confirming that “they aim to pay all payments within 2-3 days, however, they had issues and have sorted it and it shouldn’t happen again due to precautions they have put in place”.
